‘The Salesman’ can win Oscar: Feinberg forecast

A new projection for 2017 Oscar nominations says ‘The Salesman’ is a frontrunner.

Awards analyst for The Hollywood Reporter (THR) projects that Iranian director Asghar Farhadi’s ‘The Salesman’ is one of the frontrunners for Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.

Other frontrunners making the cut based on the THR’s Scott Feinberg include ‘Toni Erdmann’ from Germany, ‘Land of Mine’ from Denmark , ‘A Man Called Ove’ from Sweden and ‘Paradise’ from Russia. 

Feinberg named other possibilities as “Major Threats” just after the frontrunners of the Oscar category such as ‘The King's Choice’ from Norway and ‘It's Only the End of the World’ from Canada.

THR is a multi-platform American digital and print magazine focusing on cinematic news on Hollywood and other related developments within the realm of Cinema.

‘The Salesman’ is Iran’s submission to the 89th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The critically acclaimed double Cannes-winning flick has already been praised at many international events across the globe.

The Oscar race is about to enter its homestretch with the 89th edition of the Academy Awards is set to be held in February 2017. Oscar nomination voting spans January 5-13.
